Cool down with Ayurveda

In summer time, as Pitta (fire) energy will increase, you should avoid extreme exercise, and it’s better to have your body and mind cool down particularly in the time frame between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, and 10:00 pm and 2:00 am.

Ayurveda, practical and traditional Science of Life, is offering guidance of balancing and healing oneself and others that has been tested and refined over many centuries in India. The principal concept to prevent diseases in this tradition is “Tridosha” or three types of dosha, Vata, Pitta and Kapha (*), which are characterized

by the five elements of the Universe--Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. Each individual body has a character by either dosha or combination of each one. Ayurveda suggests we balance any excessive energy that increases in a certain season or time.

For your information, please refer “circadian rhythm” of Tridosha and the following shows how body changes in 24 hours in the fantastic book Change your schedule, change your life by Dr. Suhas Kshirsagar.

By knowing your own dosha, you can accommodate yourself to practice an appropriate yoga in a good time for you, which will prevent diseases and maintain your well-being.

Shall we start a regular life that will cool-down the Pitta energy this summer? Our yoga practices and meditation will be of good help!

(*) If you want to know your dosha, please ask Takae for a dosha test sheet in her class.
